Although it’s not yet summer, Fr. Jim Martin’s 2010 reflection
on recognizing God at work in every aspect of our lives is just as applicable
to our experience of Lent: the challenge
is to be cognizant of where God is throughout our entire day, so that we might
be more actively attentive to the relationship, as our readings this past Sunday called us to be.
How can we do this? We aren’t
Moses; we aren’t about to come upon a burning bush. But we can develop ways to encounter God regularly
in the everyday, and to grow in God's presence. Watch this video to see
how the Jesuit practice of the examen and other techniques can help us to be more actively attentive to the presence of God, to savor
it, and to be transformed by it.
