Leon (Elaine Dempsey)

Leon, leave a light on, leave a light for me
Leon, leave a light on, won't you leave a light for me

Well, I saw him move a mountain once in the eye of a little girl
I saw him take her tears in hand and ease her troubled world
Then he reached down to the ground, handed her a stone,
Said, hold it high up to the sky and see the light beyond

(Refrain)

Saw him take a woman once, took her by the hand,
Talked to her of glory days and of the Promised Land,
Gave her what she needed, hoped to ease her mind,
Brought a light to her dark days and all he meant was to be kind

(Refrain)

Saw him take a junkie once, took him to his home,
Gave him food and comfort and shelter from the cold.
He said, Boy, what are you doing, messing with your mind?
Go find your dream and live it, leave the rest behind.

(Refrain)

Well, he speaks as if he knows of a better time and place,
Yet he walks along this weary path with wisdom and with grace.
If you look a little longer into the faces of the people passing by
You'll find Leon there beside you,
You'll see a glimmer of a light in his eye,
You'll see his light shining by and by.

(Refrain)
