In the last words of the Gospel text [for the Feast of the Epiphany], we read, And having been warned in a
dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way.
Once you meet the Christ, you can no longer
go back the same way you came from. It
changes everything. It is a radical
departure from your usual norms, habits, patterns of beliefs, cycles of
friendships and everyday life. It is the
moment where you are liberated from your usual responsibilities and the burden
suddenly lightens. Christ is now in the
world, it is ok, you don’t have full control over everything, but you must
learn how to walk a different way.
Somewhere along our journey in life we too
will have to go back a different way…
