The love of one's neighbor (Karl Rahner)

The love of one’s neighbor which is comprised in the love of God, also chiefly consists in our receiving the whole divine life by the power of God’s grace, with faith and love, into the depths of our heart, in such a way that it extends and redounds to a blessing for others who by our side, like us, are to receive the one and only salvation from the eternal God.

  1. One of my friends who successfully fought addiction for over 50 years until he died, sober, in 2023, helped many, like me, get on the path to achieve what he had going for him. His most basic advice / observation was recovery only started to work for him when he grasped the Spiritual nature of the power he needed and the lack of it from which he was suffering. But he then carefully explained that his success only actually started when he realized that he had to bring this awareness from his head [as he tapped my forehead] to his heart [as he tapped my chest]. My neighbor gave me this counsel over two decades ago, it has been an unfailing Lighthouse since. I think my friend and Mr. Rahner would have enjoyed talking to each other.
