Jesus, both divine and human (Bishop Robert Barron)

The Jesus who is both divine and human is the Jesus who is evangelically compelling.  If he is only divine, then he doesn’t touch us; if he is only human, then he can’t save us.  His splendor consists in the coming together of the two natures, without mixing, mingling, or confusion.

A note on the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague, now located in the Carmelite Church of Our Lady of Victory in the Czech Republic:  The original statue stands nineteen inches tall.  The child’s right hand is extended in blessing with its first two fingers raised to symbolize the two natures of Christ, human and divine; the left hand holds a small globe topped with a cross, a reference to the kingship of the child Christ.
