Fear of the Lord
Here's something from Fr. Pat's Scripture class to think about before Sunday!
What comes to mind when you hear the word “fear”? Probably some kind of negative image, right? But what about that expression we hear so
often in Scripture: “fear of the
Lord”? What’s cool is that this kind of
“fear” is a positive thing: it refers to a sense of awe, that feeling of
wonder that we experience when we recognize all that God is and does in our
lives.
Think of a moment when you were stopped in your tracks by
the realization that all that you are, all that you have, is a gift from
God. And then imagine what it would be
like to live within that realization,
to live blessed, every moment of every
day, grateful for and engaged in relationship with God. That would be living in “fear of the Lord” –
a beautiful thing, indeed!
