Into the Desert for Lent

Did you ever think that God's romantic getaway of choice might just be... the desert?  That he leads Jesus there precisely because it is a place of perfect union, with no distractions?  And that he is interested in taking us there as well?

In Hebrew, desert means the place of the word (from dabar, or word), and thus it is the ultimate place of encounter, communication, relationship -- because it is the place where one hears the voice of God.

What if we allowed God to take us into the desert this Lent?

In a thought-provoking article for Busted Halo, Sr. Bernadette Reis, FSP, explores that very question.  You can read her article by clicking here.
